The Helen Whalen $1,000 scholarship honors the legacy of a devoted PTA member and President of the D123 Board of Education, who served School District 123 for four decades. This year’s winners, Anna Driscoll, Nora O’Shea, and Julia Stalzar, exemplify Helen Whalen’s dedication to making children "Priority #1." READ MORE ABOUT THE WINNERS... Sward Elementary Hosts Glow Run Fundraiser As a way to fundraise for next year’s PTA events, Oak Lawn-Hometown School District 123’s Sward Elementary hosted a Glow Run for students and the community. This event also promoted physical activity with an extra incentive. The grade level that raised the most funds slimed the principal during an all-school assembly. WATCH THE HIGHLIGHT VIDEO... D123 Experiences the Great North American Eclipse The temperature cooled, the sky darkened, and curious eyes looked up to the sky to witness the Great North American Eclipse on Monday, April 8, 2024. As the Chicago area reached 95% partiality, Oak Lawn-Hometown School District 123 students and staff watched the spectacle with their protective eyeglasses and were amazed at this once-in-a-generation occurrence. Oak Lawn-Hometown School District 123 Celebrates 1-23 Day "1-23 Day evokes for us all a deep sense of community and togetherness, as we take a small amount of time to celebrate the significance of who we are and the value of learning we all share," Superintendent Dr. Paul Enderle said. Oak Lawn-Hometown School District 123 Early Learning Center Coming June 2024 The Oak Lawn-Hometown School District 123 Board of Education recently approved renovation and construction plans for an Early Learning Center (ELC) and Family Resource Center at the former Gaddis School and current administrative building. District 123 Wins Dual ASBO Financial Honors Oak Lawn-Hometown School District 123 has been honored with dual accolades from the Association of School Business Officials International (ASBO): the Meritorious Budget Award (MBA) for the fiscal year 2022–2023 and the Certificate of Excellence in Financial Reporting (COE) for the fiscal year ended 2022. The Extravaganza offered a unique opportunity for longtime D123 families and newcomers. Attendees got to reconnect with old friends, forge bonds with new families, and learn more about resources throughout the Oak Lawn and Hometown communities. District 123 Summer Program Inspires Learning Oak Lawn-Hometown School District 123 recently concluded its highly anticipated summer school program, hosting 551 students for 15 days of highly engaged learning.
